My birthday week started on Sunday with the best gift of all, a sweet baby! Addison Marie, my first great grandchild, was born at 8:44 Sun. morning. I got to hold her later that day at about 5: 30. Wow have times changed. Went to the hospital expecting to look through the glass window into the nursery. But there she was in Rachel's room being held by numerous family members. So sweet!!
On Tuesday, my actual birthday, I drove over to Rochester on the Mt. Auburn blacktop. A perfect first full day of fall. The sky so blue, in the 70's, sunny, the corn harvest going-the grain trucks were burning uyp the roads.
First stop was the quilt shop! Bought a few pieces of fabric and the newest Edyta Sitar book.
Then down the street to the chocolate shop for delectable treats
On the way home, I turned off and drove up the mound and toured the town of Mt. Auburn. I'd passed by many times and decided today was the day to go see it. What views some of the homes have! Who says Illinois is nothing but flat prairie.
T gave me two CDs I've been wanting.
My asters are blooming. The neighbor gave the plant to me in the spring when they got rid of their flower bed.
T took me to supper at Donnie's,

The pond in March. Heard a downy woodpecker drumming for a lover, and ... red-winged blacbirds!!!!! Spring is coming at last.
